So I found my sleep book and started the sleep training, but my little guy is a belly sleeper. Sorry to all out there... but if he sleeps on his back he jerks awake and screams. Not even worth it... So I have kept a journal for almost 2 weeks and have the days pretty figured out, but at night he is STILL waking up every 4hours,, Tonight he went to sleep at 630 and I will bet that he will be up at 11 to eat. Last night it was 11, 1, 5, then up at 8am. I can't deal!! He shares a room with my 5 year old so CIO isn't a preferred choice at 1 am. Any suggestions??

First you have to determine how many feedings he "really" needs at night and about what time those feedings realistically should be. Once you find out that, then any wakenings in between are technically unnecessary. If they really are not necessary and there isn't a need for you to fulfill then we need to ask ourselves why then is he waking up unnecessarily. There can be many reasons. So, you want to make a checklist basically to see what areas you need to tackle and fix so that these wakenings go away. 1. can he put himself back to sleep on his own, 2. is he getting enough sleep during the day, 3. is his bedtime appropriate for the amount of sleep that he gets during the day? Once you start looking at those aspects you will soon find the culprit or culprits for that matter and you go about making the changes that you need to make. All of these things together or even separately will cause unnecessarily night wakings so give it a thought and see what you come up with.

As I said last night he went downa t 630, was up at 1030 ate 6 1/2 oz, was up at 245 nursed and was up at 645 again nursed an was up for the day. he napped at 830 was up at 1030, back down by 1 and woke up at 348, and just down again at 430 for a mini nap. He will be up by 530 to eat his cereal and stuff then back down at 630. I am really at a loss... it seems like he eats more at night than the day! I hate to let him yell at night because it seems like he is really starving and he gets so worked up it is terrible..... when he goes down during the day he is awake and puts himself to sleep after minimal to no fussing... and I think he goes to bed at a reasonable time. I have put him to sleep earlier and the only thing that changes is how often he wakes up. What am I missing??? I am so tired!

He has a great schedule and he is definately well rested. What does you pediatrician think about his needs at night? I think if you feed him a nice bottle right before bed he really shouldn't need a feeding until at least midnight. Have you tried waiting through that first feeding a bit?
